Our history dates back to 1972. The band was formed as a recreational activity of the old Cloverdale Community Center by a small nucleus of former high school and college band members. It was known as the Montgomery Community Band. In July of 2000, the members voted to change the name to the Capitol Sounds Concert Band. Since 2003, the band has been under the direction of John Jackson.

The Capitol Sounds Concert Band is sponsored by the City of Montgomery Parks and Recreation Department.
