John Jackson


Chosen by the band to be director on August 14, 2003. John is a native of Ozark, AL. He attended undergraduate and graduate school at Troy University, where he received a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education in 1995 and a Master’s degree in Music Education in 1997. He was a member of the Troy University Band, directed by Dr. John M. Long.

In addition to directing the Capitol Sounds Concert Band, Mr. Jackson serves on the Board of Directors of the Arts Council of Montgomery and Auburn Knights Alumni Association. In addition, he is involved at times throughout the year with the Montgomery Symphony Orchestra.  John resides in Montgomery with his wife, Jennifer, who plays flute in the band. He also has a son, John Scott Jackson.
